- approves the annual financial statements
- initiates restructuring measures
- decides whether and how provisions are created
- decides whether joint pension plans are formed
In particular, the Board of Directors issues:

- the Risk Policy principles
- the Regulations governing the Provisions and Reserves
- the Investment Guidelines, including the strategic asset allocation
- the Data Processing Regulations
- the Cost Regulations
- the Framework Pension Plan Regulation
