Your training at PUBLICA

During your commercial apprenticeship as an employee in service and administration, you will learn about pensions, finance, logistics and organisation as well as human resources. You will also complete internships in asset management, disability and corporate communications. They will teach you to work independently as well as redefine and apply tasks and processes. At PUBLICA, we are service providers for our active members and pension recipients. You can speak German very well and have a good knowledge of French and English which you will consolidate and improve during your apprenticeship. 

During your training, we will encourage you to think analytically, synthetically and cross-functionally. We will give you the opportunity to prepare and deliver presentations and learn about the technology used for them. In addition to training at our office, you will attend the Bern school of business and management, branch courses and sector training on occupational pensions. You will then have the perfect opportunity to apply the knowledge you have gained within PUBLICA.

As a media and technology apprentice, once you have completed your two-year foundation course at BiCT AG you will join the corporate communications team, where you will spend your third and fourth years being trained by us. You will combine technology, design and communication, plan photo and film shoots, stand behind the camera yourself and put the finishing touches to visuals in postproduction or editing. We will use the images and videos for our website and customer magazine, for presentations and printed matter, and for the intranet and social media. You will create flyers, design landing pages and layout other content for print and the web. Your work will therefore be an important part of PUBLICA’s public profile and help to ensure we present a unified image. A job as a media and technology specialist brings you into contact with a wide variety of people whom you advise and help to find the solution that is best for them. You are comfortable using all the required programs, and enjoy creating designs while keeping up to date with the latest developments. You attend the BBZ vocational school in Biel.

As a digital business developer, you will work as part of a team supporting projects together with application developers, IT specialists, and PUBLICA’s pension specialists. You will have contact with all areas of the company that want to go digital.

As a qualified digital business developer, you will be able to work in any company or organisation that is planning or carrying out a digital transformation. Digitalisation is a megatrend, meaning that your career prospects are very good. 

Your digital business developer apprenticeship will take four years and result in a VET diploma. The first year will be a foundation year attending the Bbc Bern vocational training centre. From the second year onwards, you will continue your apprenticeship with us at PUBLICA’s office. All four years will involve two days a week at the WST business school in Thun. You will have the perfect opportunity to apply the knowledge you have gained there within PUBLICA. All dates for generalist courses are incorporated into the foundation year.
