Success with a range of approaches

PUBLICA is publishing its first comprehensive report on responsible investment, covering the year 2022. By doing so, we aim to create greater transparency and explain what we mean by responsible investment and where we have made progress. The report is based on the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), the Swiss Climate Scores developed by the Federal Council, and the ESG reporting recommendations laid down by the Swiss Pension Funds Association ASIP.

Responsible investment is a wide-ranging and complex topic, and we use the experience and findings we have gained to continually develop our approach to it. We intend to carry on that journey.

What approaches to responsible investment does PUBLICA use? What did we achieve in 2022? And what are we planning to do next? In this video, Manuela Guillebeau, sustainability specialist at PUBLICA, answers those questions.

We apply a range of approaches to responsible investment. In 2022, for example, we

• fulfilled our responsibilities as a shareholder and completed a three-year dialogue with seven chocolate manufacturers to improve the situation regarding child labour on cocoa plantations,
• optimised our climate-efficient equity index and took account of companies’ Scope 3 emissions for the first time when calculating greenhouse gases,
• took the decision to exclude further companies that produce coal and generate electricity from coal, and
• launched our operational optimisation of existing property portfolio project to implement straightforward optimisations swiftly.
